Meet the author of A Penny’s Worth of Affection, Rosemary Ani, she’s an avid reader of all kinds of romance, especially a good old love-hate relationship with a tall, dark-haired, arrogant guy and a girl who gives as good as she gets. She also read mysteries and the occasional fantasy.
Her love for historical romance was inspired by reading Barbara Cartland’s books at an early age and Jane Austen’s works (most notably Pride and Prejudice) heavily inspired her to try writing historical romance.

Do you have any amazing stories about your fans? Any favorite fan stories?
I remember reading through the comments on one of my books and laughing so hard. Sometimes, I still read the old story comments on Wattpad whenever I need a good laugh.
What’s your favorite thing about being a writer?
I love being able to give life to characters that had just been mere ideas swimming in my head.
Who is your favorite character that you wrote?
Ethan Lachlan
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
In junior high, my English teacher liked an essay I wrote so much that made copies of it and gave to all the other teachers and they loved it. I knew then that writing and getting positive feedback for my stories was something I really enjoyed.
Do you have any fun facts about your book?
I’d originally planned for Lord Westbrooke (Henry) to be the main character and Phillip as a side character, but writing about Phillip, I realized that he fit my ideal for the main character instead…just a tad obnoxious but totally redeemable.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
It depends. Sometimes I struggle with a chapter or a scene that leaves me mentally drained. Other times, the ideas just seem to flow and I feel elated by the end of the writing session.
What is your favorite quote?
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Who do you say has inspired you the most?
My English teacher inspired me to give writing a try. I still remember his encouraging words and that has helped me through a lot.
What advice do you have for aspiring authors out there?
Just keep writing. My first attempt at sharing a story I wrote on Wattpad didn’t go over so well. I got a lot of criticism and while it hurt, it also helped me in my other stories as I learned what not to write.
What’s your favorite part of your own book?
My favorite part has to be when Phillip shows up at Penny’s home before dawn and declares his love for her. That reminds me of my favorite book, Pride and Prejudice and most readers have noted similarities between the two books.
Do you have a writing routine? If yes, what is it?
No routine really. If I’m working on a new idea, I generally write when inspiration strikes, sometimes for hours at a stretch then nothing at all for days.
Who is your favorite author and why?
Jane Austen. I love Pride and Prejudice! Northanger Abbey and Persuasion are also favorites.
What are you writing now?
Another historical romance. The heroine is a character whom readers briefly meet in A Penny’s Worth Of Affection when Penny and Phillip are at the inn.
What inspires you to write?
Several things really and nothing in particular. Sometimes I read a great book or watch a movie, or hear a particularly juicy bit of gossip from a friend and I get story ideas swimming in my head.
