What is exactly the process? What can I expect to happen when I sign?

Once everything is clear to you about the publishing process, your agent will submit a sample of your manuscript to our editors will make an assessment whether it’s ok to be published or not, which will usually take 3 to 4 days. If it is approved, we will inform your agent and then you will be offered a digital contract that you can read and check out or get advice on for as long as you need to.

Once you agree to the terms, we will ask you to sign it, which means you agree to give us your manuscript’s publishing rights and then we can proceed to the pre-publishing phase. Once we have your manuscript, it will go through our editing team. This usually takes 2-3 months.

After your manuscript goes through the editing process, it will be sent back to you for approval. For this, you might have to communicate with the editors working on your manuscript, in case they have any questions or clarifications about your book.

When it’s good to go, we will do what we call a “launch sequence” where we market your book before and after it’s been launched to your Wattpad fans and later to readers of Amazon.

After that, your book will have focused marketing once a month by Blvnp marketers.

Will I have to pay BLVNP anything? Are you a vanity publishing house?

You won’t pay us anything. BLVNP is a traditional publishing house, which means we finance the work done on the manuscripts–from start to finish, which includes, but is not limited to, editing and artwork to publication and, most especially, marketing.

    Is this self-publishing?

No. As we have mentioned above, if you sign with us, you will be traditionally published. We pay you. You do not pay us.

How much will I get paid?

You get 20% of royalties on all of your books. Sales for every book bought, you get 20%. Other publishers offer only 15%, but we believe that without writers like you, we wouldn’t even have this company, so we want to take care of you.

Do I have to edit the book before submitting?

Preferably, yes. That way you can go over some things you might have missed as you were writing the book, such as plot holes, character development, inconsistent details, improve/change certain events, etc, and our editors would simply polish the manuscript. That would really help speed up the publishing process.

I am a minor. Do I have to get my parent’s permission first?

Technically, you don’t. Since you’re the author, you own the rights to your work, so you’re the only one we need to ask permission from. Our first signed author was 14 years old, and there have been younger authors like her since then. But we highly recommend talking to your parents so you would have some source of sage advice that you can trust. If you or they like, we can talk to them too.

We have never had this happen but please keep in mind that technically until you are a legal adult they do control everything that you legally do, which means they can take your earnings or challenge the contract if they wish.

Do books you represent ever get put in book stores?

At the moment, only a few. We do sell paperbacks upon order, where you’d simply have to inquire your local bookstore if you can order the book through them. Most books in book stores are not profitable, as they are costly.

If I wanted to buy some of my books so I can have them on-hand, how much would it cost on average?

As an author you will be given one free copy of the book after publishing. If you would like more copies, you can simply notify your agent and for every copy you order, you can either pay it through Paypal or it will be simply deducted from your royalties. The cost would depend on how big the book is and where it will be shipped. Usually an average of per book is $10, since you already have an author discount.

Would I have to remove the first draft from Wattpad?

You will only have to remove the last 10 chapters, but only when the book has been launched. This is because for the first year of your book we will be marketing it on Amazon, which requires exclusivity.
