Supraja I.R.

Tell me about Supraja I.R.

My name is Supraja Iyer and I am in my fourth year of Engineering.
I live in Mumbai, India.
Also, I have been reading books since the age of six when my mother introduced me to books, making reading a daily ritual.
Writing is something I do to escape studies and I never thought my book will get published.
When not studying and writing, I watch movies late at night and eat junk food.

Do you have any amazing stories about your fans? Any favorite fan stories?

It was a long time ago, almost two years. A girl messaged me from Malaysia if I am not wrong. She told me that she loved me and book. When I replied, she couldn’t believe that I actually replied and told me that her friends are going to be jealous. I was floored. I didn’t think that people actually like my book.

What’s your favorite thing about being a writer?

That I can be me.

Who is your favorite character that you wrote?

Definitely Neveah from Nerd of the Year. She is every bit of a teenager I imagined her to be.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I didn’t exactly realize. It just happened to me. I initially started writing as a stress buster.

Do you have any fun facts about your book?

I started Nerd of the Year because I was feeling sad about my grade 12 marks.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

It definitely energizes me.

What is your favorite quote?

“Everything happens for a reason.”

Who do you say has inspired you the most?

My mother. She encouraged me to read and made me join a library. The best decision of my life.

What advice do you have for aspiring authors out there?

Read, you cannot write before you read. I tried to skip that. Didn’t work so well.

What’s your favorite part of your own book?

When Easton realized that Neveah is his mate.

Do you have a writing routine? If yes, what is it?

I like to write in the night. Like 2-3 am in the morning.

Who is your favorite author and why?

Emily Bronte. Because I like Wuthering Heights the most.

What are you writing now?

Beyond the Disguise. I’ve been wanting to write this book for five years now. It’s Teen Fiction with a concept really close to my heart.

What inspires you to write?

Life and people.

It’s a wrap!
